The drawbacks in having a leather hiking boots is how it can be very heavy on your feet when you wear them. Also, it is less breathable and most of the time very expensive to buy. • They have different colours to choose from

Cons Of Eurotrek III Waterproof Leather Hiking Boots:

  • The lacing structure can be difficult to use. This is because the holes are a bit tight to pull the laces through. For me I don’t enjoy having such lacing holes. It can be very frustrating to use when you are tightening your laces in a cold weather on the hiking trails.
  • The outsole of the boots are not strong enough to grip tricky surfaces such as scree and rocky surfaces. That’s why it’s best suited for everyday walk or hiking in a paved trails.

Scarpa Delta GTX Activ

Scarpa Delta GTX ActivPrice: £189.00

Available Colours: Brown

Cheapest Place To Buy it: Amazon

Average Customer Rank: 4.3/5

Product Features:

  • Inside is made of gore-tex
  • The sole is made of vibram biometric
  • The insole is made of viscoflex activ fit

Overall the scarpa delta gtx activ is all leather made, designed for three seasons and I got to say it is one of the lightest leather hiking boots that I have ever come across. The scarpa delta gtx active is made from full grain leather. The full grain leather is a high quality leather which has a thickness of 2.4mm to 2.6mm.

Personally speaking this leather hiking boot is specifically designed to be used in lighter weight hill walking boots and long distance backpack. One top of that you could wear it for your daily activities such as walking to the park.

Pros Of Scarpa Delta GTX Activ:

  • They have speed lacing system. If you are someone who hates lacing your boots during the hike then you will definitely enjoy their lacing system. This is because there are gaps between each lacing hole and as a result gives you the flexibility and speed that you need to tie the laces. And once you tie the laces effectively, it is hard to come off.
  • They have got gore-tex liner on the inside of the boot. This is super cool to have because it let the sweat out of your feet and keeps them dry.
  • The outsole, midsole and insole are brilliantly designed. Both of the insole and the midsole are made with vibram bio-metrics and this gives you extra cushioning. The outsole unit has a well constructed deep lugs which give you a lot of grips. In addition to that, the deep lugs have self-cleaning grooves which naturally push the debris outside of the tread.

Cons Of Scarpa Delta GTX Activ:

  • They have a limited colour selection for this boot. It is a shame to see that there is only one colour for this leather boots.
  • One thing that I don’t always enjoy about Scarpa’s hiking boots is their toe protection. And the scarpa delta gtx activ is no exception to that either. For me the toe protection is not that strong as it looks and it is not very protective to your feet.

Conclusion

So as we come to the conclusion of this post about the 3 best leather hiking boots for men. It’s clear that people are losing their interest in leather hiking boots but there are still amazing ones out there that are wonderful to wear for a hiking trip. Not only that but some of them have the potential to function effectively in different weather conditions and different hiking journey.

However, there are some limitations to these leather hiking boots such as too expensive to buy, not durable and most of them usually have one colour selection to choose from. A part from that, I think it is always great to wear a leather hiking boots to a hiking trip on occasion.

  6. Kuu,
As a scout leader, I am always going on hikes. Backpack hiking is on my list for this fall. Your selection on leather hiking boots have given me a few things to think about. I like the light weight, not the price of the Scarpa Delta pair. I think I am leaning towards the Eurotrek III for all of the features that you have listed.
What do you recommend to keep the leather looking like new after a couple of days on the trail.
    John

    • Hi John,

Nice to see that you have fallen in love with the Eurotrek III. I think the price for it is fairly decent if not cheap when you consider the wonderful features it have.

From my personal experience, some of the best ways to keep the leather boots clean and new is always to firstly brush off the mud with a soft brush and a clean water. Although before you do that, it is very important that you remove the laces and foot-beds first. This way you will have a lot of space to clean the boot.

Secondly, if you are cleaning the inside of your leather boots, it’s best to do that occasionally. This is because if you do that often you could deteriorate the boot very quickly.

I hope you find this answers very useful. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you the best in your backpacking hiking trip this fall.

      • Kuu,
This information is very helpful. I do keep a soft brush in the garage for when I come in after doing yard work to brush of the debris off my shoes before going in the house. I could use this for my Eurotrek lll hiking boots. I do not do anything with the insides except to shake out the debris sometimes. Any treatment to keep them waterproof.
        John

        • Hey John,

Great to see you again. I am super happy that you find the information very useful. Absolutely, you can use the same technique that you use after doing your yard work. It will make your leather boots last very long. Thanks for coming back.

  7. These shoes look great, but to me they all look a pretty similar quality. Could you maybe explain a little more on what makes the third option 150 more than the others? Really curious to find out. And also, do you think the price gap is justified?

    • Hello Benji,

Good question about the prices options especially for the Scarpa Delta GTX Activ. Personally speaking, I think the major reason why the Scarpa is very expensive is because it’s one of the few leather boots that you can use both in winter and sunny weather due to the high quality materials that they used. Also, their soles are well made and it gives you extra cushioning and grip compared with the other boots.

For me I think it would be nice if the Scarpa company could lower the price of the boot because it has limited colour selection compared with the other leather boots. However, if they were to provide different colour selections such as black in the future then the price is worth it. I hope you find these answers very useful. Thanks for stopping by and as always have a fantastic hiking trip.

It’s wonderful to meet you. It’s a pleasure to see that you love my website and the content that I am producing. Personally speaking, I believe all the three leather hiking boots will be a great value to you.

However, if I was to pick one for you I will go for the eurotrek III waterproof leather hiking boot. This is because you can hike or walk with them. Also they are waterproof, they come in different colours and it’s fairly cheap. I hope you find these answers useful. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me. Thanks for stopping by and as always have a fantastic hiking trip.
